Why you need it

When moving a website into a new country, cultural differences can easily lead you into hot water, especially when your content needs to appear in a different language. Even tiny changes in the words used can lead to confusion and a loss of meaning.

For example when Pepsi translated it's famous slogan "Come alive with the pepsi generation" into Taiwanese it read"Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead" - not exactly the product endorsement they were looking for.

About translation

When a business translates an important document, they are literally at the mercy of their translator. First, they must be native speakers of the language into which they are translating. Second, have them write a marketing piece or business letter in English. If they can pass these two tests, they will probably suffice. Remember, a poorly translated document can mean the difference between an international success and a complete failure.
